Cassie Elia began riding at the age of 10 with
Alejandro Solorzano in Eddington,
Maine, and was given her first horse, Ivy, as a birthday present at age
14.
Cassie is a graduate of Johnson & Wales
University, Providence, RI,
and holds an
Associate Degree in Equine Science (1993)
and a
Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Business Management &
Riding
(1995). During
her college time she spent three months at Waterstock House Training
Centre in
Oxfordshire, England, training under Lars Sederholm and his daughters.
After graduating from college, Cassie moved to
East Hampton, New York,
and worked for four years at Stony Hill Stables in Amagansett as a
riding instructor, trainer, and Assistant Manager. During her time
there she trained under Elizabeth “Wick” Hotchkiss and
Carol Lavell.
Cassie moved back to Maine and started Wild Ivy
Farm, Inc., in
1998. She
currently trains under Judy Westlake and most recently competed at the
Intermediare I level with her Swedish Warmblood Raphael
(“Raffles”). Raffles is now retired from showing and Cassie
has started to work with her new horse, Dundee. Cassie has earned
Maine Dressage Society (MDS)
Silver, Gold, and Platinum medals during her past 11 years in Maine.
